Earnin Joins Forces with Cupertino on Rent Assistance

Earnin is built on the idea of community. Over the past few months, our focus has been on what we can do to help our community get through the COVID Crisis. That’s why we’re excited to share some important news: Earnin will be working with the City of Cupertino to provide a $50,000 rental assistance program for those experiencing housing insecurity during the crisis.

Applicants will receive their assistance funds from the City quickly and securely through direct deposit with the Earnin app. Consistent with Earnin’s tools, the company will not charge any interest, bank fees, or late fees to the recipients. Additionally, voluntary tipping will be turned off for this program to ensure that the program is completely free for all participants.

Cupertino Vice-Mayor Darcy Paul had this to say about the program: “Cupertino is offering renters’ assistance in a manner that is cutting-edge and designed to maximize the amount of help that we can provide. As part of the Council majority approving this effort, I am proud to support these compassionate and forward-looking efforts. Working together, we can optimize outreach and promote financial sustainability for members of our community and beyond.”
